Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi has backed Ciro Immobile to regain his scoring touch soon after ‘getting us all used to his extraordinary goal return.’

Immobile has scored just one goal in his last seven Serie A appearances for Lazio, with a hamstring injury affecting his form but Inzaghi is putting his faith in the forward against Roma on Saturday.

“Tomorrow’s a very important game, where we have the opportunity to reduce the gap,” the Coach said at a Press conference for the Derby della Capitale.

“We mustn’t fear anyone and play an important game. On Tuesday we played a demanding game, so we’ll see how the players who faced Milan have recovered.

“It’s true that Immobile’s goals are missing. He had got us all used to his extraordinary goal return, but he’s continued to get chances.

“Now he’s almost completely recovered from his muscle problem. He’ll start scoring again soon.

“Both us and Roma are teams are under pressure, but we’ll be well prepared and we’ll take to the field with plenty of focus.

“We’ll have to do even better than what we showed on Tuesday.”

Inzaghi then reserved praise for Roma revelation Nicolo Zaniolo, who is set to start at the Olimpico.

“Zaniolo’s doing well,” added the former Italy striker.

“He deserves all the praise going his way for what he’s done so far at a club as demanding as Roma, given how young he is.”
