Napoli could be without Dries Mertens for Wednesday’s Serie A trip to Empoli with a leg injury.

Mertens was replaced an hour into Napoli’s 4-1 win at Roma on Sunday, and the club confirmed on their official website that the forward needed treatment for ‘a bruised tibia’.

Consequently, he could be spared for the match at Empoli ahead of next week’s Europa League quarter-final first leg against Arsenal.
