Stefano Pioli believes Fiorentina ‘didn’t suffer that much’ against Roma, even if his side have a problem ‘killing off games’.

Fiorentina threw away the lead twice to draw 2-2 with Roma on Wednesday, leaving the Viola with just one win from their last 10 games.

“If we don’t take our chances, we leave games open, especially against very determined teams like Roma. There was the possibility of winning,” Pioli said after the game, which was his team’s 15th Serie A draw of the season.

“If we don’t take our chances, we leave games open, especially against very determined teams like Roma. There was the possibility of winning,” Pioli said after the game, which was his team’s 15th Serie A draw of the season.

“Many of these draws could’ve been victories. I liked the team, they started playing again, trying to impose their game.

“We were also balanced and, even though we conceded two goals, we didn’t suffer that much.

“Games must be killed off. When you play teams like Roma, you need an extra cushion. We weren’t able to freeze the game or kill it off.

“Youth can’t be a justification, but it’s a component that’s there. Now we want to reach the Coppa Italia Final.

“The path and growth of our individuals is there. Stock is only taken at the end of the season.”
