Igor Tudor has made it clear that Udinese will not resort to scrapping out results, explaining that they are the ‘consequences’ of playing well.

Udinese have won two of their five games under Tudor, while both of their defeats came to Napoli and Roma, managing to score twice at the San Paolo and only going down to an Edin Dzeko goal on Saturday.

“We’re going to play against a team fighting for the Champions League, with extraordinary players and a lot of quality, who play good football,” the Coach said at a Press conference for Wednesday’s Serie A trip to Lazio.

“It’s important for us to confirm the good things we’ve done and have the desire to score goals.

“If you just tell your lads ‘you have to pick up points', you don’t them how to do that. We must focus on playing well, not for the sake of pleasing the fans but to pick up points.

“The obligation of picking up a result has a worse effect on you mentally than when you focus on performances.

“After that, the result is a consequence. The goal against Roma was a mistake.

“I’ve let off Samir because his wife was in the hospital to give birth and maybe he wasn’t as focused.

“Roma were smart and won with that detail. You can make mistakes, but you have to learn from them.

“We also lost in the second half because some players came from long periods of inactivity. I’d like to have a few weeks to work on the intensity, which this team need.

“There will be some changes against Lazio, also because this game comes only a few days after our last tone.

“For example, Pussetto won’t play due to a persistent knee problem; however he should return on Saturday for the match against Sassuolo.

“Nuytinck’s had only two training sessions. He and Hallfredsson are coming back, but we haven’t yet decided whether he’ll be called or not.

“We must have confidence going forward and see tomorrow’s rescheduled game as a chance to do well.”
