Simone Inzaghi has claimed that his dream is ‘to only complain about ourselves’ after more Lazio controversy with referees.

Lazio’s 1-0 defeat to Milan on Saturday was overshadowed by a red card to Luis Alberto, Inzaghi being dismissed himself and Francesco Acerbi having his shirt paraded after the final whistle by Franck Kessie and Tiemoue Bakayoko, both of whom avoided suspensions.

“There’s a lot of anger and disappointment,” the Coach said at a Press conference for Wednesday’s rescheduled Serie A match against Udinese.

“After the first half at San Siro, we didn’t deserve to lose, absolutely. But we had to make our first half count.

“We had three big chances. There’s huge disappointment, but I was clear with the team: we mustn’t give up.

“What happened could make us lose focus and motivation, but I’m lucky to have an extraordinary group.

“My dream as a Coach would be to only complain about ourselves. Last year we complained a lot and this year we’re doing it again.

“Calvarese’s an important referee making big steps forward, but beyond what happens off the field I have an obligation to think about my team and Udinese.

“We must continue to believe in ourselves. As early as tomorrow against Udinese we have the opportunity to move up the table. but we must pay close attention to tomorrow’s match.”

The Coach then discussed the condition of his squad, with Stefan Radu and Adam Marusic missing the trip to San Siro and Joaquin Correa going off at half-time.

“Radu and Marusic did some partial work with the team yesterday,” he added.

“They’re better now. Their condition will have to be assessed in training today. Luis Alberto is banned and Berisha is unavailable, then to be assessed there’s Correa, who took a knock from Romagnoli after 15 minutes.

“He finished the first half and had some minor problems. Between today and tomorrow we’ll know if we have him back for the game tomorrow or the one after.

“Francesco had two excellent training sessions after Saturday’s game. He’s fine and I think he’ll give us a hand tomorrow so we can have a great game.

“They play with a 3-5-2. They’re a careful and focused team with some physical players.”

“Luis Alberto’s red card resulted in mine, also because he was near the touchline and I saw that there was absolutely no foul.

“There are players like Parolo and Cataldi who can replace him, or there’s Bruno Jordao.

“Questions are always asked about results. We needed to be ahead at the end of the first half against Milan, while the second half was looking like a 0-0.

“Then came the incident that condemned us. Tomorrow we have an obligation to pick up a result.”
