Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini insists Nicolo Barella could stay at the club but admits ‘it’s not right to hold on to him if he wanted to leave.’
Barella is being heavily tipped to move on from Cagliari this summer after a season that saw him establish himself in Italy’s midfield, and Giulini was asked about the future of his prized asset.
“This is my first season at Cagliari that we’ll end with our budget in the red,” he told Nuova Sardegna.
“Someone will have to leave, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that Barella will, even if it’s not right for us to hold on to him if he wanted to leave.
“We’ve had three players called up by Italy. For me, it was an immense satisfaction.”
