Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that he will not rotate his goalkeepers next season, in a possible nod to Gianluigi Buffon.

Buffon only joined the French champions from Juventus last summer, but he has played just four of their previous 13 League games.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that he will not rotate his goalkeepers next season, in a possible nod to Gianluigi Buffon.

Buffon only joined the French champions from Juventus last summer, but he has played just four of their previous 13 League games.

The veteran’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Tuchel made it clear he would no longer be alternated with Alphonse Areola.

“We’re perhaps the first club to always rotate our goalkeepers and it was made possible by two exceptional lads like Gigi and Alphonse, who have teamed up and supported each other,” he said at a Press conference.

“But we can’t keep going like this. We’ll change next season. The goalkeeper’s role is a special one and it’s not possible to change every two or three games.

“There will be no more rotation. I can’t say who the starter will be as I haven’t decided yet, but we certainly won’t change every three games.”
