Italy have beaten Portugal 1-0 despite going down to 10 men and will face France in the European Under-17 Championship semi-final.
Simply reaching the semi-final means they have also secured their place at the Brazil Under-17 World Cup later this year.
The Azzurrini continued their perfect record in the tournament, having won all three group games.
This evening, they managed to defeat Portugal in the quarter-final thanks to the only goal from Juventus youth product Franco Tongya.
The turning point came after 26 minutes, when Inter youth team player Sebastiano Esposito provided the assist for Tongya to drill home just inside the area.
Portugal came fighting back and laid siege to the Italy goal, but despite seeing Matteo Ruggeri sent off in stoppages, could not find a way through.
Italy will now face France in the European Under-17 Championship semi-final on Thursday.
