The Croatian veteran had been expected to remain in Turin under Max Allegri, but with the departure of the Coach, the situation has changed.

There have been reports of an approach from Borussia Dortmund and CEO Watzke did not deny it.

“We have some ideas for the summer, although they are not easy to make happen,” he told German newspaper Bild.

“As for Mandzukic, at the moment he’s at Juventus, but you can’t rule anything out in football. I know Mario is a forward who always wants to play.”

Mandzukic just turned 33 this week and only recently signed a new contract with Juventus to June 2021, but that does not necessarily exclude a sale.

He has been in Turin since 2015, having previously played for Dinamo Zagreb, Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.
