Olympique Marseille are interested in poaching Lazio midfielder Lucas Leiva, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.

The 32-year-old joined from Liverpool two years ago for just under €6m and has been a regular in the middle of the park.

French reports claim the Argentina international’s performances caught the eye of Marseille directors and new Coach Andre Villas-Boas.

Leiva came to Europe for Liverpool in 2007 from Gremio and spent a decade at Anfield before seeking a new experience with Lazio.

Leiva came to Europe for Liverpool in 2007 from Gremio and spent a decade at Anfield before seeking a new experience with Lazio.

He helped them win the Coppa Italia this season, with 36 competitive appearances, including Europa League group games against Marseille.

The Brazilian only extended his contract last month and it now runs to June 2022.
