Napoli welcomed new Juventus Coach Maurizio Sarri back to Serie A with an amusingly ironic video playing on his notorious superstition.

Sarri was on the Stadio San Paolo bench for three years as he battled Juve for the Scudetto, but after just one season with Chelsea, he has joined the Partenopei’s bitter rivals.

While some called him a ‘traitor’ and depicted him as Judas, the official Napoli website opted to take a more ironic route with this cheeky video.

It is practically an ode to the Italian art of ‘gufare’ – wishing a poor result upon your rival – and particularly the deep-set Neapolitan culture based on superstition.

If someone tells you that victory is certainly yours, this can be seen as bringing bad luck, so the clip shows a series of Napoli fans wishing Sarri every success in his new job.

To ward off bad spirits, Neapolitans in particular use a lucky 'corno' red horn statuette, with many carrying replicas on keyrings or even jewellery.

There is also a play on the fact the unluckiest number in Italy is 17, whereas it is 13 in England, so they are covering all bases.
