Sevilla sporting director Monchi reportedly wants to bring Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi back to Andalusia.

According to the Spanish football website El Gol Digital, the sporting director wants to reunite with the player that he signed last summer, while he was still employed by the Giallorossi.

The Frenchman failed to report back for a pre-season medical with the capital club and is pushing for a move away from Italy, with Olympique Lyonnais also reportedly interested as they are looking for a replacement for Tottenham-bound Tanguy Ndombele.

Roma paid almost €30m for World Cup winner Nzonzi last summer and reportedly wouldn’t be willing to sell him for anything less than €25m.

The 30-year-old spent three years with Los Rojiblancos after Monchi signed him for €8m from Stoke City in 2015, while scoring eight times in 136 appearances during his stay at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
