Zinedine Zidane admits he doesn’t know “if James Rodriguez is going to be at Real Madrid next season” amid Napoli and Atletico Madrid interest.

While the Merengues are trying to make it look as if the Colombia international could remain following Marco Asensio’s injury, the Coach continued to show little regard for the player who spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

“I don't know if James is going to be in Madrid next season,” Zidane told reporters after an Audi Cup defeat to Tottenham.

“I'm not thinking about this situation now. I'm here thinking about the Audi Cup.”

“We are here and the players are the ones I have. You don't have to go around it again. Until the end of August things can change.”

Napoli want James on loan with an option to buy, whereas Real Madrid are only prepared to sell outright for €42m.

They’d rather reinforce the Serie A club than their local rivals Atletico Madrid, so the situation has stalled.

It’d be a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti, who first brought James to the Bernabeu from Monaco in 2014 and worked with him again at Bayern Munich.
