Uruguay midfielder Nahitan Nandez bid an emotional farewell to Boca Juniors ahead of his proposed transfer to Cagliari.

Nandez could not hold back the tears at the time of his substitution during Boca’s 2-0 win against Atletico Paranaense on Wednesday evening.

“I’m sure Nandez will come back at some point,” Coach Gustavo Alfaro said after the game.

“I had the privilege of working with a complete player and a great professional. I’ll miss him.”

The 23-year-old is now on his way to Cagliari in an €18m deal, replacing Nicolo Barella in the Sardinians’ engine room.

In turn, filling his void in Los Xeneizes’ midfield is former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi.
