Gianluca Di Marzio also notes Grifone President Enrico Preziosi had been working on the deal for two months, despite Lucas Biglia speculation.

A transfer fee is likely to be minimal, given the 33-year-old was entering the final year of his Ajax deal.

Schone spent seven years with the Dutch giants, scoring 64 goals and providing 52 assists in 286 appearances, without ever seeing red.

He won seven Eredivisie titles and helped the side reach the Champions League semi-finals last season, alongside Juventus new boy Matthijs de Ligt.
