Bryan Cristante believes Roma are making ‘good progress’ under Paulo Fonseca after his last-gasp goal beat Lille 3-2 on Saturday.

The Giallorossi fell behind to an early Timothy Weah goal and seemed to be heading for a 2-2 draw until Cristante struck in the first minute of injury time to earn Fonseca his second friendly win.

“I’m happy with my goal,” the midfielder told Roma TV.

“Lille are a strong team and this was our first test of a certain level. Our legs are still not at their maximum and we still have to get a better grip of what the Coach wants from us, but Lille finished second last season so it’s a great victory.

“Fonseca told us to try out his ideas and game. We’re in the process of assimilating his concepts.

“We’re making good progress, but we’re not yet at the optimum level. Still, we held our own and I think we had a good game overall.

“I like Fonseca’s concepts, pressing high up the pitch. Now we must continue to work well so we can have a good season.”
