Lautaro Martinez believes Inter will be one of Serie A’s most prolific sides under Antonio Conte as the new boss is ‘demanding’ goals from his forwards.

Lautaro goes into the new season as one half of Conte’s first-choice front two alongside new boy Romelu Lukaku, and the Argentine helped his side beat Valencia on penalties last night.

“The first half was a bit complicated for us, but we had better control of the ball in the second half and we improved,” he told Inter TV.

“Ultimately we won on penalties and winning is always important, even if it’s important to start the season well.

“Now we must prepare well for Inter-Lecce, which we’ll contest at home in front of our fans. That’s all that matters.

“Before returning to training, I’d already talked to Conte: he’s a very good Coach.

“He demands the attackers stay close to each other and create many chances. The next few weeks will be crucial to get to grips with his tactics.

“We’re working hard, this team are willing to give everything: we know we can do better, but we have a great team and we’ll be ready for the start of the season.”
