Jorginho says he is determined to be remembered as a Chelsea player in his own right and not Maurizio Sarri’s protégé.

Jorginho worked with Sarri at Napoli before following him to Chesea last summer, although the Coach has since moved to Juventus.

The midfielder is now keen to carve out a reputation for himself at Stamford Bridge, under club legend Frank Lampard.

“I was a little sad seeing people thinking I arrived here only because of [Sarri],” the 27-year-old told Esporte Interativo, reports The Daily Mail.

“I was a little sad seeing people thinking I arrived here only because of [Sarri],” the 27-year-old told Esporte Interativo, reports The Daily Mail.

“I arrived here because of my hard work, my day to day work, my sacrifices. It’s a challenge for me to show the fans that thanks to my work it’s why I got here.

“I want to take this opportunity to have a good season and also for my name to be recognised by Jorginho who plays for Chelsea, not Jorginho who only works with Sarri.”

The Italy international scored an extra-time penalty during the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the European Super Cup on Wednesday, although they lost 5-4 in the subsequent shootout.
