Carlo Ancelotti insists Aurelio De Laurentiis “is one of the few Presidents who respects my work” at Napoli and doesn’t dictate picks.

The former Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich boss has worked at the highest level and is enjoying this latest experience at the Stadio San Paolo.

“De Laurentiis is one of the few Presidents who respects my work,” Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“He asks for information on what’s happening, but never tries to give his opinion on what choices I should make. He likes to listen and be informed, but that’s where it ends.

“De Laurentiis is also a great businessman, because he wants a healthy, well-run club.”

With that in mind, a reunion with Zlatan Ibrahimovic seems unlikely.

“Of course I’d sign Ibra. He’d have to give us a discount, though. In fact, maybe play for free…”

This is Ancelotti’s return to Serie A after years in England, France, Spain and Germany.

“The problem here is that violence, insults, these are all considered part of our football and it’s not like that elsewhere. We need to modernise.

“There are probably those in Italy who still consider it to be normal, but I can assure you it is no longer normal anywhere else.”
