Genoa Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli said it’s “an honour” to be compared to Gian Piero Gasperini, but it’s too early for such praise.
Gasp had two different spells on the Genoa bench and remains a fan hero, even after taking Atalanta to their first ever Champions League spot.
Andreazzoli just arrived from Empoli and was asked whether he represented Gasperini’s heir.
“I am honoured by the comparison, as I admire Gasperini a great deal and know all he did for this club,” Andreazzoli told Sky Sport Italia.
“On the other hand, I haven’t done anything yet. We’ve worked hard for two months and the comparisons seem excessive.
“We’ve got to keep our feet on the ground and focus on action rather than proclamations.”
