Euro 2020 round-up

It was an early Fiorentina-Juventus in Belgrade, as Nikola Milenkovic and Cristiano Ronaldo were on target as Portugal beat Serbia 4-2.

The Euro 2020 qualifier makes it now very difficult for Serbia to reach the tournament, as Ukraine are top of Group B with 13 points in five games.

Portugal picked up a 3-1 victory in Serbia with William Carvalho making the most of a comical goalkeeping error, then Goncalo Guedes drilling home.

Fiorentina defender Milenkovic was given acres of space for a free header on a corner to spark the comeback.

However, Juventus star Ronaldo scored Portugal’s third and it would’ve been ruled offside if VAR had been active in these qualifiers.

It still wasn’t over, as Aleksander Mitrovic hit a scorcher into the roof of the net for 3-2, only for Bernardo Silva to restore the two-goal cushion with slack defending.

Elsewhere, there was controversy and chaos in Paris, where organisers accidentally played Andorra’s national anthem and Albania refused to kick-off until their correct anthem had sounded out.

France then made it worse by publicly apologising to Armenia instead.

Les Bleus ended up winning 4-1, with ex-Juventus striker Kingsley Coman netting twice, Olivier Giroud and Jonathan Ikone.

Sokol Cikalleshi converted a late penalty.

Kosovo continued their extraordinary positive run with a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic.

Iceland made short work of Moldova in a 3-0 result, while Ukraine conquered Lithuania by the same scoreline.

Turkey left it to the very last minute to break down tiny Andorra with Ozan Tufan in Istanbul sparing their blushes.

Harry Kane had a hat-trick as England swept Bulgaria aside 4-0.
