Lautaro Martinez’s agent insists he was ‘misinterpreted’ about Barcelona as the striker wants to stay at Inter and ‘win lots of important things’.

Beto Yaque fuelled speculation linking Martinez with Barca only yesterday as he admitted it would be ‘wonderful’ to see the Argentine play alongside Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.

However, he clarified in an interview with FCInterNews: “I was asked if I’d like to see Lautaro play with Lionel Messi.

“Obviously I answered ‘yes’. Now, tell me: is there anyone in the world who wouldn't want to see ‘La Pulga’ [Messi] in their team?

“I don’t think so. I’m glad the two are playing together in Argentina, but I absolutely don’t want Lautaro to join Barcelona. I was just misinterpreted.

“Lautaro’s very happy at Inter, he wants to win lots of important things. And now that the team are even more competitive, he’s happier than ever.

“There’s no chance of him leaving, also because I repeat he’s very happy in Milan. Antonio Conte values him and the team are strong.

“He wants to stay, so let’s not stir things that don’t exist. When Martinez signed for Inter, there were several teams after him.

“However, it was I who advised him and pushed for the Nerazzurri project. He was enthusiastic right away. Like I said before, he’s happier than ever.”

Lautaro has a €112m release clause in his Inter contract…

“We’ve already had a meeting with Piero. At the end of October, I’ll return to Milan to iron out the remaining details.

“As for removing his release clause, I can’t be so specific but I can guarantee that Lautaro and I are totally open to renewing his contract with the Nerazzurri.

“There’s desire to do it. We’re sure that Inter have a future that’s more than bright. Martinez wants to be one of the leading lights in Inter’s potential success.”

The 22-year-old recently scored a hat-trick for Argentina against Mexico and has started the season as Romelu Lukaku’s first-choice partner in attack for Inter.
