Cagliari boss Rolando Maran believes his side have what it takes to give Napoli “cause for concern” tomorrow.

Cagliari have won two on the trot and only narrowly lost to Napoli in their two Serie A meetings last season, going down 2-1 to a stoppage-time Lorenzo Insigne penalty in May.

“We’re facing the most difficult team we possibly could,” Maran said at a Press conference.

“They have so many options, but matches like these are opportunities. Last season we were really close to getting results: you all remember how it ended last season.

“Napoli have huge potential, but we’ve worked on some aspects and measures that, I think, will give them cause for concern.

“We must enhance our quality by limiting their resources. There will be a lot to sacrifice because Napoli make you run so much without the ball, but we’ll have to be good in the other things we do.

“We must have that healthy madness that allows us to do better, both in our relationships and on the field.

“We must be compact, precise and vibrant: that spirit is fuel for us to go beyond possibilities.”

Christian Oliva has played just 35 minutes of football for the Sardinians since arriving from Nacional in January, but the Coach believes he is now ready to compete for a regular place.

“Oliva is absolutely ready to play from the first minute. He’s someone who’s worked hard since he arrived, and he’s grown both physically and tactically.”
