Roberto Mancini has equalled the all-time record of nine consecutive Italy victories, set by World Cup winner Vittorio Pozzo in 1938-39.

This evening’s Euro 2020 success away to Liechtenstein by 5-0 ensured a 100 per cent record still stands in Group J.

It also proves historic for Mancini, as before this, the only Italy Coach to have won nine on the trot was Pozzo.

This was achieved from May 1938 to March 1939, beating Belgium, Yugoslavia, Norway, France, Brazil, Hungary, Switzerland, France again and Germany.

Mancini’s list of victories started with the USA in November 2018, followed by Finland, Liechtenstein, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Armenia, Finland, Greece and Liechtenstein.

In that run, Mancio’s Azzurri scored 25 goals and conceded only three.
