The break for international duty has been a tense one for Genoa, as President Enrico Preziosi offered the job to Stefano Pioli and Gennaro Gattuso before accepting Andreazzoli was his best prospect for the moment.

“Clearly, it has been an uncomfortable time,” confessed the former Empoli tactician in his Press conference.

“I thank Goran Pandev for saying that the team is behind me. The lads have always behaved impeccably and played interesting football, as we only got two games wrong in our approach. Now we need to raise the bar, because the level we’ve had so far is not enough.

“It is important to be productive and we need to score more goals. Parma are a tough opponent, we know their particular tactical shape and playing style. They are accustomed to sitting back and going on the counter, so we need to attack them intelligently.”

Antonio Barreca is available again, but Domenico Criscito and Andrea Favilli are ruled out, so 19-year-old defender Vasco Da Cunha gets his first call-up.

Genoa squad for Parma: Marchetti, Jandrei, Radu; C Zapata, Barreca, Goldaniga, El Yamiq, Ghiglione, Ankersen, Da Cunha; Lerager, Jagiello, Schone, Radovanovic, Agudelo, Cassata, Pajac; Sanabria, Kouame, Pandev, Pinamonti
