City host Atalanta in the Champions League tomorrow, with Atalanta needing an unlikely victory over Guardiola’s side to keep their chances of reaching the knockout stages alive.

“What I said about Sarri I could say about Gasperini, I was lucky enough to meet him before,” he said at a Press conference.

“Having seen what Atalanta did last year and what they’re doing this season is incredible.

“It’s a great joy to watch his team play, they’re brave, they respect their supporters. The way they play is unusual, they take quite a few risks.

“In this match both teams are very brave, and they will try to impose the game, we will have to adapt and they will do the same.

“I hope it will be an open match, both teams score and concede. I hope it will be a lively match.”

The English giants have already lost twice in the Premier League but have a 100 percent record after their opening two European fixtures…

“I’m very confident, I have full trust in my team but there’s a lot of strong teams. The Champions League will be won in the box and so far we’ve not been very strong in the box.

“We’ve made mistakes we shouldn’t make at this level, for example in the match against Watford we created a lot of opportunities but scored very little, this is what I’m thinking.

“We’re good at defending and we need to score at the right moment. We’re going to try but I don’t know if we’ll win. If we don’t, we’ll try again next season.

“I never played one game without thinking I can’t win, but I played every game thinking I could lose. I don’t know but we’ll try.”

Finally, the Coach was asked about the ongoing fight against racism.

“This is a fight that must be fought every day. It’s a cultural problem, an attitude problem, it happens in English, Spanish and Italian stadiums.

“It’s a culture that must be embedded in children very young. It’s a fight we all have to fight.”
