“We want to bring the national team back where they deserve to be,” he told Rai Sport.
“They’ve won the World Cup four times but haven’t won the European Championship for such a long time so we want to go all the way [in 2020].
“The suffering is greater when you’re in the dugout.”
Buffon and De Rossi have been lined up for farewell appearances, so are they still going ahead?
“It was the President’s idea and I agreed with him. It would be great if we could make it happen.
“As for whether it’ll be at the Euros, we’ll see.”
