Berardi recently signed a new contract with Sassuolo and is tied on six goals with Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata as the League’s second top scorer.
Despite his feats, the Neroverdi are only one position above the relegation zone and level on points with 18th-placed SPAL.
Their cause has not been helped by Defrel scoring just one goal since returning to the club from Roma.
