“He really participated and even suggested substitutions! I’ll take his advice into account next time,” joked Montella in his press conference.

“This victory is a source of pride, because it was not easy to come back and secure a fully-deserved win. The team didn’t lose its way, showed great maturity and gave some important responses.
“Sassuolo didn’t create much in the first half, but we were a little timid by our standards. We found our courage after the break, won the ball back a few more times and ended the game with stronger fitness levels, which is remarkable considering Sassuolo had two more days to rest.
“I want to dedicate this success to President Rocco Commisso, as it’s the first time he has been in the stands for a Fiorentina victory. I am happy with the way our season is going, as it’s beyond our expectations.”
