Riccardo Bigon says the ball is now in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s court as the Bologna sporting director declares “our ambition is to enter Europe.”

Bologna are currently locked in talks to bring Ibrahimovic back to Serie A this winter, and Bigon believes the signing of the LA Galaxy striker would help the Rossoblu move up a level.

“Over the last few months, Ibra and Mihajlovic have been in touch, also because of a difficult period for Sinisa,” the former Napoli chief told Radio Anch’io Sport.

“They have been sharing opinions about the Swedish player’s future, and he is the only one who will be able to decide where it lies.”

“Over the next few months, we will get to know where his future lies, we still don’t know where he will go.

“The idea of [him joining Bologna] is fascinating, the phone calls between the coach and Ibra are there and if he wants to return to Italy, we’re ready.

“Our ambition is to enter Europe. Maybe not this year, but we are doing what we can to arrive there.

“We are looking to create a highly competitive squad. We have been without a coach since July 10, we can’t forget that.

“Sinisa is strong and his staff are doing a great job in a difficult period, but it punishes us to not have him with us.”
