Faouzi Ghoulam has assured Napoli fans his injury isn't serious and that it is just a muscular problem.

Ghoulam has missed Napoli's last two games with the setback, but he took to Algerian newspaper Le Buteur to rubbish the claim that Carlo Ancelotti was no longer counting on him.

"I have a muscle injury, but it is nothing to get worried about. I want to return to the national side, but first I must find consistency with Napoli."

The left-back was left out of Algeria's triumphant Africa Cup of Nations squad over the summer, but he claims it was his decision to stay at home.

"It was difficult, but I had to work and regain strength in my muscles. In short, I wasn't ready. I have some regrets, but I'm glad the team won."

The 28-year-old, who joined the Partenopei from Saint-Etienne in January 2014, has 37 caps and five goals for his country.
