Edin Dzeko insists Roma captain Alessandro Florenzi will “bounce back” but reminds him to “respect the coach’s decisions”.
Paulo Fonseca has tended to prefer Leonardo Spinazzola and Davide Santon over the 28-year-old, whose last Serie A start came a month ago.
“Ale is fine, he’s our captain,” the 33-year-old said at a Press conference.
“It’s not easy for him. He is a great player who would like to play but, ultimately, we must respect the coach’s decisions.
“Ale is a very talented player. I’m sure he will bounce back, and then he will play again.”
The Giallorossi teammates will face off this evening in a Euro 2020 qualififer between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Italy.
