Napoli’s Alex Meret discussed his strengths and weaknesses, while naming Inter’s Samir Handanovic as “the most complete goalkeeper" in the world.

The Partenopei shot-stopper is in the senior Italy squad for their Euro 2020 qualifier against Armenia on Monday and could make his debut.

“My main strengths are quick reactions and movement between the posts, but I do need to improve when it comes to playing the ball with my feet,” the 22-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“My main strengths are quick reactions and movement between the posts, but I do need to improve when it comes to playing the ball with my feet,” the 22-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“I should also be more courageous when coming out to gather crosses or high balls. When there’s a penalty, I try to pick a side and go for it.

“My best save of this season was on Mohamed Salah against Liverpool in the Champions League. My dream is to win something important with both Napoli and Italy.”

Meret was asked about the colleagues he is most inspired by in the football world.

“My idol as a child was Gigi Buffon. The goalkeeper I see being the best with his feet is Ederson, while Alisson Becker gives his defenders the most confidence.

“I still maintain the most complete ‘keeper out there is Samir Handanovic.”
