Inter and Italy midfielder Nicolò Barella underwent keyhole surgery on his knee this morning and is expected to be out until 2020.
The former Cagliari man sprained his right knee during the 3-0 win at Torino and a fragment of cartilage had become detached.
It was removed from the kneecap using keyhole surgery in Rozzano this morning.
A statement from Inter confirmed the operation was a success and he will begin rehabilitation over the next few days.
The 22-year-old is expected to be out of action for four to six weeks, so won’t play again until the New Year.
Barella has made 17 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
