Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira claimed Chiesa has declined the chance of a renewal at the Artemio Franchi, but Barone denies that the winger has put in a transfer request.

“It was a meeting already arranged a couple of weeks ago, and not scheduled for yesterday or today. We have spoken about his future,” Barone told firenzeviola.it after meeting with Chiesa’s father, Enrico.

“We are working with him and continuing to speak, we have a very good rapport with Federico. But now he must recuperate.

“Our staff are working to get him into the best condition. Federico has another two and a half years on his contract. We must leave him in peace.”

Sport Mediaset also report that Fiorentina won’t consider selling the player within Italy. Juventus and Inter have longstanding interest in Chiesa, which would seemingly rule them out.

Chiesa scored his first goal for the Italian national team last week in the 9-1 win against Armenia.
