Zlatan Ibrahimovic has given big clues as to his next destination. “I will join a club that must get back to winning and renew its history. I’ll see you in Italy soon.”
The striker is a free agent after his experience in MLS with the LA Galaxy and has been linked with Milan, Napoli, Bologna and Roma.
“I will join a club that must get back to winning, that has to renew its history and is in search of a battle against everyone and everything,” Ibra told GQ Italia, as teased by the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
“That is the only way I’ll be able to find the necessary motivation to surprise you again. It’s not just about choosing a team, as there are other factors that need to line up, including in the interests of my family.
“I’ll see you in Italy soon.”
All the candidates for his signature – Milan, Napoli, Bologna and Roma – have won the Scudetto in their history.
“There are players who play football and others who think football. When someone invents a new way of playing football, the others can only follow.
“I love to make the difference. I don’t just want to do one or two things well, I want to do all of it.”
Ibrahimovic also had his usual stern words for Major League Soccer after two years with the LA Galaxy.
“I am very happy to have had this experience in Los Angeles, especially as after the injury, many people said I couldn’t play anymore, but I showed them that I could still make the difference.
“On a technical and tactical level, they still need to grow here. They run, but are not accustomed to playing with their feet, as all the traditional American sports involve using their hands.”
