In mid-November, the former Lazio and Sampdoria defender left hospital after he finished his third cycle of chemotherapy and underwent a bone marrow transplant.

He returned to the dugout for the 3-2 defeat to Milan on Sunday.

“A brother and son of Bologna, the council – during today’s meeting – unanimously approved the agenda to give Sinisa Mihajlovic honorary citizenship,” read a tweet by Bologna city council.

The Serb has been in charge of Bologna since January of this year, replacing Filippo Inzaghi, and guided the Emilian side to safety in 2018-19.
