Milan are preparing to celebrate their 120th birthday over the weekend, with former greats expected to be present for the game against Sassuolo.

The club officially turned 120 years old yesterday, but the Rossoneri will be commemorating the anniversary tomorrow and on Monday.

The club will present a raft of legendary players at half time during the game against the Neroverdi.

Dejan Savicevic, Zvonimir Boban, Jose Altafini, Daniele Massaro, Pippo Inzaghi, Mauro Tassotti, Dida, Jean-Pierre Papin, Alberigo Evani, Roberto Donadoni, Billy Costacurta, Massimo Ambrosini, Demetrio Albertini and Maurizio Ganz are all scheduled to appear at San Siro.

Additionally, every fan inside the stadium for the game will receive a special scarf that will be part of a unique choreography.

Puma and Milan have also teamed together to create limited shirts, with 1899 available with the signature of Milan founder Herbert Kilpin, printed into the fabric.

There will also be a gala event after the game, at the Principe di Savoia hotel where former President Silvio Berlusconi will be present.

Around 60,000 fans are expected at San Siro tomorrow.

The club was founded in 1899 by two English expats, Kilpin and Alfred Edwards. However, there are some discrepancies about the actual date.

The club state that it was December 16, but there’s evidence to suggest that Milan was born three days prior.

The club was originally set up, like many teams in Italy at the time, as a football and cricket club, but the latter didn’t last very long, with the club renaming itself to Milano Football Club by 1919.
