Luca Gotti believes Udinese made it too easy for Juventus and reveals he had been in the frame to follow Maurizio Sarri to Turin this summer.

The Zebrette were three goals down at half time following a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo and the Leonardo Bonucci header, but tested Gigi Buffon several times after the break.

“I’m not happy, because we allowed Juve to express their quality. In the second half, with the result already decided, we did things that we should have done. I think that in the first half we didn’t see our qualities," the caretaker manager said in his press conference.

Juventus played Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo from the start for the first time this season.

Gotti previously worked with Sarri at Chelsea, so did he consider following him to Juve?

“Yes, for a few days I thought about it. Then however they made their choice. He decided on [Giovanni] Martusciello, and I understood. But it doesn’t change my friendship with him.”

Udinese haven’t won since early November and are now hovering on the periphery of the relegation zone, so does this affect the mood in the team?

“Knowing the environment, the position can become a problem. The team faces issues in the best possibly way, but on the pitch we must help them.”

Udinese are now 17th in Serie A.
