Marchisio: 'Conte crucial, Ibra...'

Claudio Marchisio claims Antonio Conte is “most important” to Inter and hopes Zlatan Ibrahimovic “shakes up” Milan, even if “I would’ve tried to promote some youth.”

Inter are top of Serie A midway through Conte’s first season in charge, and Marchisio has been hugely impressed with his former Juventus coach.

“Elegance is in everything, especially details,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I aimed for it on the pitch and I’ll continue to off it.  The most elegant team are the one who win at the end of the season.

“The most elegant team in Serie A are the one who win more than the others.

“The Nerazzurri have given important signals, not only to the League but also themselves.

“They went several years without stability, but they have it this season and they’re certainly making the campaign more interesting than it was in other seasons.

“Juventus, however, know they must keep winning and know they have a truly great squad.

“They also know that, this season, there are Inter and Lazio, who are showing they can keep up.

“He was certainly Inter’s most important signing. He’s proved his worth in Italy, abroad and with the Italian national team at a difficult time and he’s also proving it at Inter.

“He’s the most important part of Inter.”

So does the 33-year-old like this Nerazzurri side more than Maurizio Sarri’s Juve?

“I’ll always like Juve more.”

Marchisio was also asked about Ibrahimovic’s return to Milan and he gave a mixed response.

“I hope he’ll shake them up. The Rossoneri must return to the levels they deserve to be at.

“In a season with all these problems, however, I would’ve tried to promote some youth players.”
