Simone Inzaghi urged Lazio to “resume our Coppa Italia journey on the right foot” against Cremonese in the Round of 16 tomorrow.

The Aquile lifted the trophy in May, beating Atalanta in the Final, and begin the defence of their title on Tuesday at 17.00 GMT.

The winners of this fixture will then go on to face Napoli or Perugia in the quarter-finals.

“We know what the Coppa Italia represents for us, as we won the last edition, but also played a Final with Juventus in 2017 and a semi-final against Milan in 2018,” Inzaghi told Lazio Style Channel.

“We want to resume our Coppa Italia journey on the right foot and that means approaching this game in the best possible way, with the right level of hunger.”

Stefan Radu, Senad Lulic, Joaquin Correa and Jordan Lukaku are not in the squad for tomorrow’s Round of 16 encounter, which follows on from 10 consecutive Serie A victories.

“I’ll be happy to see Massimo Rastelli again, as he was an important figure in my playing career. We’d often be strike partners at Piacenza and he’d give me a lot of great assists,” continued Inzaghi.

“He is now a fine coach and his teams are always very well-organised. I’ll also see Simone Palombi again, as he improved so much in the Lazio youth team with me and we won a lot of silverware together.”
