Inter director Piero Ausilio confirms they “have made a formal offer for Christian Eriksen” to Tottenham, while “we reached a basic agreement” for Victor Moses of Chelsea.
The statements to Sky Sport Italia this evening make it clear Eriksen is their number one priority for the January transfer window.
“We have made a formal offer for Eriksen and now we are waiting for a response from Tottenham. We can only sit and wait now, as there are many clubs interested, he is a top player who has naturally attracted interest from the most important clubs in Europe.
“It’s very difficult, but we’ll try to do everything possible,” said the director of sport.
The 28-year-old Denmark international’s contract expires in June, so his agent was permitted to hold negotiations with Inter CEO Beppe Marotta.
They agreed personal terms, believed to be a contract worth €10m per season.
Spurs wanted €20m to release him now, but it’s reported the deal was eventually done for €15m plus up to €3m in performance-related bonuses and add-ons.
Ausilio also commented on other discussions with Premier League club Chelsea, specifically that Moses is set to arrive on loan with option to buy for €10m, interrupting his Fenerbahce loan.
“We’ve reached a basic agreement with Chelsea for Victor Moses. We are evaluating the situation, it could be an opportunity, but it’s better to wait before saying more.
“Olivier Giroud is a possibility, if we sell one of our forwards on the transfer market.”
Giroud cannot arrive until Matteo Politano has left, but the exchange with Roma wing-back Leonardo Spinazzola fell apart at the last minute after a medical.
“Politano is an asset for this club, if we have the opportunity to make him happy with a move, then we will take it.”
