Jean-Clair Todibo has opened up on his move to Schalke 04, after being close to joining Milan on loan from Barcelona.
The French defender had been targeted by the Rossoneri, who were working hard to get a deal across the line, but as the defender wanted the Blaugrana to include a buy-back clause in his deal, it eventually fell through.
The 20-year-old ended up at Schalke in Gelsenkirchen on loan with an option to buy including buy-back option, just how the centre-back wanted it to be.
He said his teammate Ivan Rakitic, who played for Schalke between 2007 and 2011, had influenced his move as much as his compatriot and Königblauen player Amine Harit.
“I chose Schalke 04 because before giving my word, I often spoke with Amine Harit,” Todibo told Bild. “He influenced me. But I must say that I also received information in Barcelona.
“I spoke to Raktici and this made the difference.”
