Inter confirm Samir Handanovic has “a hairline fracture to the little finger in his left hand,” but do not specify a recovery time for the goalkeeper.
The captain missed last night’s 2-0 win away to Udinese and seemed to have part of his left hand immobilised under a wool glove.
“Samir Handanovic has undergone an X-ray examination following an injury to his left hand suffered in training,” read a statement this morning.
“Results showed a hairline fracture to his little finger. His condition will be reassessed on a daily basis.”
There had been reports the Slovenian would be out of action for three to four weeks, which would rule him out of big games against Milan, Lazio and Ludogorets in the Europa League.
It’s going to be extremely difficult to see him in action for next week’s Derby della Madonnina with rivals Milan, but the extent of the issue is not yet clear.
Daniele Padelli played against Udinese in what was his first Serie A match since August 2016.
