“We were disappointed with the result on Wednesday, because I think we put in a really good performance,” said the coach in his press conference, referring to the rescheduled Week 17 draw with Hellas Verona.

“There was disappointment at not picking up three points, but also confidence that our performances remain stable and consistent. My concern is that we used up a lot of energy, lost Bastos and Lulic, plus Stefan Radu and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are suspended.

“Lulic is very generous and has pushed through for a month with this ankle problem. He could barely walk today. He is our captain and I hope he won’t be out for long, but I can’t be certain he’ll be fit for Inter next week.

“If I were to predict it looking at him today, I’d say no. His ankle was so swollen, it barely looked like an ankle.”

Joaquin Correa and Danilo Cataldi are still not at 100 per cent either, so Inzaghi has a crisis situation on his hands.

“They certainly won’t play from the start. We’ll see how they feel to come off the bench, but we cannot afford to risk any relapses right now.”

Lazio extended their unbeaten run to 17 Serie A games, but failed to leapfrog Inter into second place.

“There are 16 matches to go and so many points that nothing can be taken for granted,” warned Inzaghi.

“We have to take it one day at a time. Parma are a revelation this season, just like Hellas Verona, with a fine coach and very physical players.

“We’re having a great season, and if it weren’t for Juventus and Inter setting their own records, we’d be top of many other divisions. However, we need to focus only on ourselves."
