Faouzi Ghoulam reportedly turned down January moves to Marseille, Lille and Newcastle United, as he wants to prove himself at Napoli.

The Algeria international has been out of action since October due to injury, but is back in the squad for today’s trip to Cagliari.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the 29-year-old had been put on the transfer market in January by his club.

It’s claimed there were proposals from Olympique Marseille, Lille and Newcastle United, but the left-back was not interested.

Ghoulam joined Napoli from Saint-Etienne in 2014 and his contract at the Stadio San Paolo runs to June 2022.

He was one of the top left-backs in European football until a devastating series of knee injuries started in November 2017.
