Parma coach Roberto D’Aversa says his side are showing "great maturity" compared to last season, and that they never abandoned wantaway forward Gervinho.
The Gialloblu returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Sassuolo, and D’Aversa says they remain on course to meet their season objectives.
“In this moment we are an important position. In respect to the other sides we remain humble for our objectives,” said D’Aversa in his post-game press conference.
“If you analyse the wage bill of Parma and Sassuolo there is a difference. We are sixth, and in the end we will see how the season will finish. We have always achieved our objectives.”
Gervinho was on the verge of leaving the club in the January transfer window, only for the deal to fall apart at the last moment, however the Ivorian scored the winning goal, so is everything forgiven?
“As I said in the pre-match press conference, I consider these lads my children. Those who make mistakes are right to make decisions, but when they choose to reset they do their talking on the pitch.
“The team has never put Gervinho aside. He is good at scoring goals, but the team is also good at giving its value.”
D’Aversa believes that Parma’s win shows how his side have matured.
“Even last year when we came here, Sassuolo were better. Even in that situation we had numerical difficulties, and missed a penalty.
“The maturity the boys are showing since our first season back in Serie A, in terms of attitude, we have never made mistakes.
“On a psychological level, we didn’t arrive in Ferrara in the best way, but the attitude of the lads is always excellent.”
