“Yesterday was my last home game as President,” he told Livorno24. “I came to the stadium convinced to witness a win against Cosenza.

“I would have liked to say goodbye to the fans with a triumph and instead we suffered a bad defeat. It disappointed me deeply.

“I apologise on behalf of the club, the players and my staff, because I am responsible for this situation. After 21 years of presidency, the time has come to pass it over.

“The negotiation for the sale is proceeding very well and the transfer should be formalised within ten days. I will always be a fan of Livorno and next year I will sponsor the club through one of my companies.”
