The Aquile are now undoubtedly Scudetto contenders after beating Inter 2-1 to fly into second place, just one point behind leaders Juventus.

“We played that game like a mature team, going behind just before half-time, but keeping clear heads, because we knew that we had the quality to turn it around. We deservedly won against a great team,” said the coach in his press conference.

“Humility is always important, but at the same time, we must also be aware that we’re doing wonderful things this season. Games that combine both ingredients are the best.

“We are now 17 points clear of fifth-placed Roma, are on a run of 15 wins and four draws. We must be smart not to look too far forward, nor behind us. Just continue along our own path and ignore the rest. When we get to April, we’ll see where we are.

“This is a side that had extraordinary results, but that is the past now and there are 14 rounds to go. Everyone is watching Lazio now, so we must maintain that humility to play with aggression, confidence and pace.

“Serie A is tough in terms of mentality, as there are no easy games, so concentration must always be at the maximum. Tomorrow is a big test for us precisely because after Inter, Genoa might be considered a simpler fixture, but it’s absolutely not the case.

“Genoa are well-organised, we know how tough Marassi can be and they have picked up eight points from their last four games, keeping three clean sheets. Davide Nicola brought real organisation to the side and we’ve had difficulties in this fixture before. We’ll be keeping a special eye on Goran Pandev.”

Lazio have serious issues in defence, because Senad Lulic is injured, Luiz Felipe suspended and Acerbi likely to miss out.

“Acerbi had a muscular problem, so having never missed a game this season, we are thinking this over carefully. He took part in training today, unlike Friday. Tomorrow won’t be the last match, so we need to take everything into consideration,” continued Inzaghi.

“Tucu Correa is in good shape and did well coming off the bench against Inter. We have to see if he starts or not, as I’ve alternated the forwards in training this week. I have some decisions to make.”
