Coronavirus also cancels Torino-Parma

Torino-Parma has also now been called off due to the Coronavirus outbreak, along with Atalanta-Sassuolo, Verona-Cagliari and Inter-Sampdoria.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced late on Saturday evening that they would “suspend all sporting events planned for Sunday in the Veneto and Lombardy regions.”

That included Atalanta-Sassuolo, Verona-Cagliari and Inter-Sampdoria.

Now another Serie A fixture has fallen, as new cases in Piedmont mean that Torino-Parma has been postponed, just hours before it was due to kick off at 14.00 GMT.

There were already over 40 matches cancelled this weekend in the lower leagues, along with Serie B fixture Ascoli-Cremonese.

The panic over the spread of the Coronavirus in Italy prompted this sudden clampdown on movement of large groups from the affected areas.

As of this morning, there have been two deaths in Italy, 90 positive cases in Lombardy, 17 in Veneto, two in Emilia-Romagna, two in Lazio (Chinese tourists at the specialist hospital) and one in Piedmont.

The deaths were in Veneto and Lombardy.

Now it’s also possible the upcoming Europa League game between Inter and Ludogorets could be moved or more likely played behind closed doors.
